MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

New developments in the case of a man and woman who were charged with murder in a shooting two months ago in the parking lot of a restaurant on Airport Boulevard.

Ryland Kidd is charged with murder and Taylor Law with felony murder in the shooting death of Justin Edwards in a parking lot at Airport and Montlimar Drive.

Preliminary hearings were held Wednesday for both.

A Mobile Police detective testified Kidd told him he shot Edwards because Edwards had stolen his gun, and that Edwards pulled a gun on Kidd and cocked it before Kidd shot and killed Edwards.

At the end of the hearing, Judge Joe Basenberg ruled there was probable cause to send Kidd's case to a grand jury.

But he delayed making a decision on Law's case until he received more information from the prosecution on similar cases in the past.

The judge specifically wanted to hear more arguments from the prosecution on whether Law actually participated in a felony where a death occurred.

Mobile County Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Wright said, "She was aware that he was going to get his gun back and, that was the testimony, that she knew he was getting out of a car with a weapon and going to get his stolen gun back."

Donald Briskman, the attorney for Taylor Law said, "They would have to show that there was a robbery that was committed: a felony to support the aiding and abetting charge on the felony murder docket."

The district attorney's office said it would send it's arguments to the judge by the end of the day, but no word of a ruling by the judge as of yet.
