MPD: No arrests in Yester Oaks parking lot shooting

UPDATE: Mobile Police released new details about a Saturday night shooting in a parking lot on Airport Boulevard.
It happened at 8:48 p.m. near a bar in the Yester Oaks shopping center. Investigators said two men were outside talking when one man attempted to stab the other with a knife. The man pulled out a pistol and shot the man holding the knife three times.
Plato's Closet employee Mystery Bowen said it started with a fight. "About 10-15 minutes later we heard shots fired in the parking lot and that's when we locked up and just waited until the police got here," Bowen said.
The gunman was questioned by officers at the scene. Police said he was not arrested "because of the circumstances and evidence." According to MPD the District Attorney's office said its a self defense case.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police said he is facing life-threatening injuries.
Investigators have not released the names of the two men involved.
ORIGINAL STORY: Police tell FOX10 News a person was shot Saturday night at the Yester Oaks Shopping Center on Airport Boulevard.
It happened just before 9 p.m. at the shopping center at 3692 Airport Boulevard, and almost immediately there was a heavy police presence in the parking lot in front of the long strip of businesses.
Police said the shooter was in custody.
They tell FOX10 News it was one person who was shot and sent to a local hospital for treatment. There was no word on the victim's condition.
Investigators blocked off a section of the parking lot with yellow crime tape. Officers were observed removing a handgun from the pavement.
