Rainy weather leaves parade goers disappointed

Posted: Updated:

It was a no-go for Tuesday's Mardi Gras parade in Downtown Mobile. Mother nature was not in the Mardi Gras spirit. Just too much rain for the order of La-She's. Don't fret, they'll be back Wednesday night, weather permitting. The Order of LaShe's plans to roll Wednesday at 6:30 pm.

Rain, Rain Go away.

"I'm really, really, really upset," said Tiffany White, a parade-goer.

"I feel shook up a little bit," added Denzel Peyton," who was supposed to carry a sign during the parade.

Come again...after Mardi Gras.

"The other night we were out here and it was supposed to go to the north. Why can't this go to the north?" said Bobbie White.

"This is Mobile. Our weather is never what its supposed to be. It can be 29 degrees one day and almost 200 degrees, I'm exaggerating a little bit," added Tiffany.

There was plenty of disappointment down the streets of Downtown Mobile as folks headed home Tuesday night.

"Already had my hot dogs set up. Got my chair behind me and I was ready for the parade," said Suzanne Sealy.

There were no moon pies, no beads, no barricades, no people. This was all due to Tuesday's parade cancellation.

The La-She's made the decision to postpone the parade because of the rain. Fox 10 was first to spread the word.

"I found out from you. From this news channel. Thank you FOX 10 for letting us know," exclaimed Sealy.

Sealy was just one of the dozens of revelers out ready to brave the rain. She says this is one of her favorite parades but she understands why it didn't roll and would rather enjoy it dry.

"A little disheartening. I even brought my rain gear and my umbrella I even had my station all set up, but it couldn't be helped," she said.

For true Mardi Gras patrons, Tuesday's rainy setbacks won't kill the carnival spirit.

"I'll just make it on through. It will be another parade," Peyton said.

"We are very die hard. We come out here for everything," added Bobbie.

"Diehard Mardi Gras. Boom boom, boom boom," said Sealy.

LaShe's will roll tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 6:30 pm.
