MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

We're just two days until Fat Tuesday, but perhaps the Port City's favorite celebration had them lining the streets for Joe Cain Day. We were there as the "People's Parade" continued to entertain.

Music filled the air -- as a long-standing tradition unique to the Port City marched through the streets of downtown Mobile.

It's Joe Cain Day -- better known as the "People's Parade." The day-long celebration where anything goes. The procession led by the Father of Mardi Gras -- Joe Cain himself.

What followed was a cast of colorful characters.

"I'm a chicken! Big-gock," said one man.

"We just came out of the Tensaw Delta," said a woman with the Delta Swamp Sirens.

"I'm a silver medalist from Lillehammer '94... Go Olympics! Team USA," said one man dressed in red, white, and blue.

The chaos of it all needs no explanation why it's a favorite among revelers.

"I mean look at the weather and we're still out here," said one reveler.

Despite the rain, their energy is contagious and proof the good times are still very much alive 150 years after Joe Cain's first ride.
