ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FL (WALA) -

UPDATE: At 12:30 p.m. Thursday Verizon said its service to Escambia County 911 has been restored.

Service was interrupted earlier Thursday due to a networking issue between Verizon and AT&T.

Earlier, Verizon had said customers in Escambia County may not be able to utilize their mobile device to call 911 for emergency services due to the service interruption, the cellular provider says.

Verizon said during the outage that its users who need emergency services such as law enforcement, EMS or fire should use a landline, a mobile device from a different carrier or visit the nearest fire station.
