One of the victims in the Easter weekend shooting at The Grand Hall has died. Now homicide detectives are taking over the complicated case.

McGill-Toolen High School freshman Anesa Baker died ten days after she was shot at a pre-Spring Break party. The 15-year-old was among five teenagers hit when shots rang out. Two others were trampled.

“It saddens us that Anesa Baker has succumbed to her injuries as a result of the shooting,” said Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste. “We will remain diligent in continuing to follow up on all investigative leads.”

A vigil was held Wednesday night at The Bright Spot in Mobile, to honor Anesa. Friends tell FOX10 News she played rec basketball and wanted to make positive changes in her community. Anesa's basketball coach brought teammates and classmates together, to remember Anesa's contagious smile, and to teach a lesson about senseless violence.

"She just had a great attitude, and she just was just a pleasure to be around...she was a leader. I just hope that with this beautiful flower being picked from the garden here that parents everywhere realize that this could be your child, it's someone else's today but it could be yours tomorrow," said Coach Carletta Davis.

Her best friend tells us Anesa wanted to be a nurse.

Mobile Police have arrested three teenagers on gun charges, but none of them have been charged in connection with the shooting. We have asked to talk to an investigator on the case, but MPD has denied that request.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the teen's family.
