DAUPHIN ISLAND, AL (WALA) -

It's a story FOX10 News has been covering for almost a month now:   the search for Jevon Lemke.

He went missing March 25th in the waters off Fort Morgan.

Jevon's mother, Carrie Holton, told FOX10 News she's going home this weekend.

She flew in from Wisconsin two weeks ago helping search for her son..

Jevon was pulled underwater by a rip current off Fort Morgan late last month.

Before she leaves, Holton wanted to thank everyone who helped in the search.

Holton said, "It wasn't unnoticed.  I will always be faithful. And they will always, even though I don't even know their names, they will always have a place in my heart."

George Ruiz is a volunteer who worked alongside Holton.

He said, "Our goal is not to have this happen again:  if it does happen, to have some kind of support system there, whether it be life rings or life guards or something there to assist people on the beach."

That's what Holton says she wants to see.

Holton said, "I really do believe a system built on telephone poles that have a life preserver and a life vest with some kind of alarm system that when the box is opened a siren goes off."

Holton also said she hopes to return to the Alabama Gulf Coast in the future and will continue efforts to raise awareness about safety.

She said, "I'm not going down without a fight. I will make sure that there are changes over there so another parent, another mom, another sibling doesn't have to go through this."

Holton also wants to encourage people,  especially visitors, to educate themselves about rip currents and weather conditions before they go into the water.
