CAUGHT IN THE ACT: Heated argument leads to theft at convenience store

Posted: Updated:

FOX10 News is committed to putting the spotlight on people "Caught in the Act". Each week, we work with local law enforcement to show surveillance video in the hope you can help crack the case.

A heated argument lead to a theft at a local convenience store. Workers say a man took several items from their store right in front of their faces.

Mike Seebar, the owner of the Raceway on Government Blvd. says a man asked the clerk to put ten dollars in a different pump than where he was parked. He says the man came back inside a few minutes later and demanded free gas, after someone else took the ten dollars worth he paid for.

Seebar says oftentimes, incidents like this are a scam to get free gas. While it is unclear if this is what the man was doing, workers say they couldn't give him any money back without being sure.

That's when video shows the man get angry with the clerk.

"Just being argumentative with him, and cursing at him, and he said I want the gas back. He [the clerk] said I'm sorry I can't do that it's your fault, and he said I'm just going to take whatever I feel like,” said Seebar.

The video then shows the man walk to a back aisle.

"He grabbed a bag of charcoal, two cases of laundry detergent, and a pack of cascade dishwashing soap,” said Seebar.

The clerk followed the man outside and took his license play number. Mobile Police are still working to identify the man, so if you know who he is, give them a call. MPD sent us this description:

“The suspect is described as male, 6" tall 155 lbs., wearing a red Alabama hoodie over a white shirt, baggy style light blue jeans, studded ear rings in both ears, gray shoes and last seen getting into a Gray 2006 Toyota Avolon Alabama tag 2BBB8900.”
