Community meets to discuss Waffle House video

Posted: Updated:
MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

Some people gathered tonight in Mobile to talk about the investigation into the arrest of Chikesia Clemons. We saw the arrest on a video that circulated throughout social media Sunday. The video left many people upset. Yesterday, Saraland Police who performed the arrest, released their findings through the investigation they conducted disputing Clemons' claims.

Tonight a few people met in an organized effort to discuss those findings and come up with what to do next. We were not allowed in the meeting but we did see about 20 or more people go in to the church.

We're told the meeting was simply an organized discussion about all of the pieces put together and how to move forward in addressing what happened.

Of course this all stems from the video that circulated through social media where Clemons was pulled from her seat onto the ground and arrested by police.

However, yesterday Saraland Police responded in a press conference. They released surveillance video from Waffle House as well. They say Clemons went on a profanity-laced tirade aimed at Waffle House employees. Some folks there tonight were not completely convinced of either side. They say their hoping tonight's meeting will help them find some common ground.

"We seen the video, we seen the spin, we seen the media. Now I'm sitting here to see, what are we going to do strategically in order to avoid anything like this. I know everybody's throwing faults and everything like this and everything but we've gotta get to the bottom of this," said Rodney Toomer, a local community activist and DJ.

Yesterday, Saraland Public Safety Director JC West said no action will be taken against the officers.
