It took more than an hour to knock the blaze down.

Smoke and flames could be seen for miles.

Mobile Fire Rescue Crews tried to contain it before it reached I-10.

Police shut down the on and off ramp, diverting traffic to one lane on the interstate.

A frightening scene for people like Kenneth Jones.

"I ain't never seen nothing like this before. I was in the house and I heard the loud bang and I came and seen the big smoke so I come up this way," Jones said.

Anthony Cox drives trucks for a living. He said watching this tanker burn, was jarring.

"It's a fish hook curve. Very sharp so speed could have been a factor. I've been in a rollover before and it's not a good scene. I've been in an accident where trucks have actually rolled over and it's very scary. Drivers please slow down. Be careful. It could cost you your life," Cox said.

Authorities are working to determine who was driving the truck. It had a Texas license plate. A Mobile Fire Rescue spokesperson said papers inside the truck showing where it was headed were burned.
