Firefighter injured battling house fire in Mobile

MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

A Mobile firefighter was hurt Monday while trying to put out a fire on Brucewood Drive. That's off Bear Fork Road just east of Shelton Beach Road. 

Firefighters were called to the scene around 4:20 p.m. Calls to 911 reported smoke and flames at the rear of a house. 

MFRD confirmed an "outside fire with extension to two un-occupied dwellings."

Firefighters extinguished the flames and cleared the scene by 5:30 p.m. No civilians were injured in the fire.

According to MFRD one firefighter "sustained minor injuries during firefighting efforts."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
