GALLATIN, TN (WSMV) -
A Cottontown woman has been arrested on child abuse and murder charges in connection with the death of a toddler she was babysitting.
Kayla Pauze, 25, was charged with one count of aggravated child abuse and one count of first-degree murder after an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, with the assistance of the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office.
Pauze is accused of killing 2-year-old Aiden Hale in March.
During the course of the investigation, agents determined that on March 26 Pauze inflicted an injury on the toddler that resulted in hospitalization. Aiden’s condition worsened and he died on March 29.
Pauze is being held in the Sumner County Jail without bail. She will appear in Sumner County General Sessions Court on May 25.
