Rip current warning signs approved for Fort Morgan

Posted: Updated:

Baldwin County leaders are continuing to find ways to make the beaches along Fort Morgan safer for visitors.

Tuesday, the county commission voted to buy 104 rip current warning signs. The signs will be placed at 22 public beach access points.

There are also extra signs to place in other areas as the need arises. Four of the signs will be flashing road signs. They are designed to alert visitors as they drive on Fort Morgan Road. The cost is just under $10,000.

The sign purchase comes a few weeks after the county bought a remote-controlled lifesaving buoy for Fort Morgan Fire-Rescue.
