BIRMINGHAM, AL (WALA) -

The Alabama Associated Press Media Editors have bestowed several awards on FOX10 News for its journalistic efforts in 2017.

There were several first- and second-place awards that went to FOX10 News and its team during an awards ceremony in Birmingham Saturday.

First-place awards went to Kati Weis for Best Reporter, Weis and photographer Franz Barraza for Best Investigative ("Toxic Release"), Weis and Barraza for Best Documentary ("Quest for Answers"), and reporter Devan Coffaro and photographer Ronald Gaines for Best Lifestyle Feature ("Officer Plays Basketball with Kids").

Second-place awards went to FOX10 (WALA-TV) for Outstanding Newscast, Bob Grip for Best Anchor, Matt Barrentine for Best Weather Anchor, Barraza for Best Photographer, Coffaro and photographer Guy Turnbow for Best News Feature ("Sunken Treasure"), and Coffaro and Turnbow for Best Investigative ("Emergency Room Scoreboard").
