THOMASVILLE, Ala. (WALA) -

A 20-year-old from Monroe County was arrested after investigators said he led several law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase Tuesday.

Thomasville Police said Noah Hadley's crime spree started when stole items from Walmart. Employees there called police when Hadley returned to the store. When Thomasville Police officers tried to stop him, they said he side-swiped a police cruiser and took off.

The chase continued on Highway 43 in Clarke County where police said Hadley started driving on the wrong side of the road by going south in the northbound lanes. Alabama State Troopers and the Clarke County Sheriff's Office joined the pursuit and Hadley returned to the southbound lanes.

Near Highway 84, state troopers tried to stop Hadley with spike trips, but he avoided the device by cutting through a parking lot.

The chase continued into Monroe County where police said Hadley started to lose control of the vehicle as the engine started smoking. Police said he bailed from the vehicle and took off running.

He was chased by a K-9 unit and surrendered before the dog was about to bite him.

Thomasville Police charged Hadley with assault, attempting to elude, reckless endangerment, and theft of property. More charges are expected from other agencies involved in the chase.
