Operation Backpack: Donate school supplies for local students

MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

FOX10 News is committed to the community and we need your help. We've teamed up with Volunteers of America Southeast for "Operation Backpack" to help make back-to-school a little easier for some local students.  

You can drop off school supplies through Friday, July 20 at the FOX10 studio at 1501 Satchel Paige Drive, or at the Volunteers of America at 1204 Hillcrest Road. 

Here's what's needed most:

Black & Red Pens
Colored Pencils (12 pack)
Composition Notebook
Crayons
Eraser
Folders (with pocket & brads)
Glue Sticks
Highlighters
Notebook Paper
Pencils
Pencil Pouch
Pencil Sharpener with Cover
Round Tipped Scissors

    Mobile Police are investigating a shooting on the 1500 block of West Avenue. That's off of Virginia St. and Tuttle Ave, about a block from Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
