THEODORE, AL (WALA) -

It was a bizarre crime that unfolded right in front of employees of Franklin's Starter and Alternator in Theodore. A statue of St. Francis of Assisi taken in broad daylight.

Since we featured the surveillance video on "Caught In The Act" -- owner Chuck Badalamenti says a lot of people have inquired about his beloved religious statue -- a gift given to him by his daughters.

"More people have stopped me on the street or on sales calls and called us and asked if the statue was back," said Badalamenti.

He now has an answer. Just as it was taken, on Sunday the statue was returned. It too was all caught on camera -- this time around 5:30 a,m., however a different person runs up and drops the statue off at the front of the business.

"You'll notice that he's got a flashlight in his mouth -- definitely trying to see where he is going. It's was funny his hair flopping all over the place as he ran," said Badalamenti.

But hold up -- if you keep watching the video -- the guy realizes he forgot something and runs back and gets his jacket, which was wrapped around the statue, before taking off.

While's he still not sure why the statue was taken in the first place, Badalamenti is glad it's back.

"My wife and I are just ecstatic that he was returned. We're just tickled pink that he is back with us... The family is complete again," said Badalamenti.

On Thursday, Badalamenti had a priest come out and bless the statue. While it's an answer to his prayers, he says he couldn't have done it without FOX 10 News.

"Channel 10 had a real positive effect on them.. And all of the people who watch that station," said Badalamenti.

As for the person who took the statue, he forgives them and hopes they got something out of it.

"I hope he brought you some joy and happiness... I wish you no ill will. I'm just glad you returned it," said Badalamenti.
