THEODORE, AL (WALA) -

The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department responded overnight to a fire at a home in Theodore.

This was in the 800 block of Live Circle North around 2 a.m.

Officials tell FOX10 News the fire was contained to a bedroom.

Five fire trucks responded to the blaze.

"The homeowner advised that she was awakened by her daughter and notified of smoke in the bedroom, but she could not locate a source," said MFRD spokesman Steven Millhouse in an email to news media. "The family safely evacuated the home and immediately called for fire department assistance. Upon arrival, MFRD personnel located a fire in the single family dwelling and worked diligently to extinguish the flames."

Firefighters say the family pet died in the fire. There were no other injuries.

An investigation is ongoing. Fire investigators say the accidental fire stemmed from the bedroom closet, but a source is undetermined at this time, Millhouse said.
