MOBILE, Ala. - A local family and community is asking for your support.
There's a big block party coming up this weekend with food, live music, a silent auction and more activities.
It's called "One Family, One Fight" and it's all to benefit Erika Buschmann Lynam, who's fighting melanoma.
Erika's sisters, Emily and Gretchen, stopped by our studio to tell us about Erika and the event.
Erika is one of seven siblings, and the oldest daughter. She graduated from McGill-Toolen in 1988. One of her three children attends McGill-Toolen now. Her other two children attend St. Mary's School.
She was diagnosed last month with stage 4 melanoma.
There will be a benefit for Erika at St. Mary's Catholic School on Sunday from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. The event is free, and donations are accepted.
T-shirts will be for sale and over 200 items will be auctioned in the silent auction. Erika's niece and other local artists have submitted beautiful original artwork for the auction.
Erika's family says not only do they want to help their sister with her financial struggles as she fights the disease, but they also want to raise awareness about melanoma.
