When you're making the transition from summer to fall here on the Gulf Coast, there are a few pieces from summer that you don't need to push to the back of your closet including dressy shorts, summer dresses, vibrantly colored pants, maxi skirts, and black capri pants. Stylist Jules Wiseman came up with a few looks using these items that will take you from summer into fall.
1) Dressy shorts
Keep your favorite pair of dressy summer shorts out and wear them in cooler weather with a pair of opaque tights. Add a girly button up blouse, and tuck it in the shorts. Then finish the look with a feminine slim patent leather belt, girly ballet flats, and a blazer.
2) Strappy summer dress
Instead of throwing your summer dresses into a storage bin, just add some layers and take them into fall months. Our stylist says you could layer the dress with a jewel toned turtleneck to incorporate the colors of the season, or you can play it safe and go with a black turtleneck.. Finish that look with a pair of opaque tights and sassy ankle boots.
Another option if you're not into turtlenecks is to add a blazer over your summer dress, and add a pair of heels to dress things up. If you want more of a casual look, put on a denim jacket instead of the blazer, and add a pair of knee high boots. If it's extra chilly, add tights to this look.
3) Pants in vibrant colors
You may have paired these beautiful blooming colors with a cute tank top for summer, but for fall, pair the pants with a feminine flowing long sleeve blouse instead. You could also add a blazer and a chic pair of patent leather heels or flats.
4) Maxi skirts
Add your favorite flat rugged boots to your favorite summer maxi to for an edgy look for fall. Put on a tank top for a fitted polished look up top, and cover it with your denim jacket or blazer. Layer a few long necklaces over your tank and you'll great a look that's thrown together, yet polished.
5) Black capri pants
Our stylist says you may think you can only wear capri pants during summer months, but pair them with a cute pair of kitten heels, a sweater vest, and a navy blazer, and you're ready for date night!
