MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The murder of 65-year-old Lai Robinson, a woman known as the "Candy Lady" , is not a forgotten one.
Mobile Police said Robinson was shot inside her home June 25 and later died from her injuries.
One month later, there are still no arrests in the case and no closure for a family who is left without a mother and grandmother.
"Everyone still talks about it every day, day in and day out," a neighbor said.
"You still can't believe somebody would do that to her, so we're upset the person hasn't been caught," another neighbor said.
Mobile Police Chief Micheal T. Williams is urging anyone with information to come forward.
"We need a name, we need a tip, we need some information that will direct us to the individuals that are responsible. And if we can get a little information it will give us an opportunity to forward the investigation and with hopes of getting this case solved and getting it closed," he said.
Neighbors said it's a bitter sight to see Robinson's yard so empty when it was once filled with kids who visited the candy lady daily.
"These young kids try to be so strong and you can see the change in their eyes and the expression on their face," one neighbor said.
The community said family members have been gathering the rest of Robinson's belongings from the home. With her gone, they say the street is quiet and somewhat of a ghost town.
Neighbors said they see police patrolling the area regularly and hope an arrest in the case comes soon.
