MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A benefit for the victim of a vicious dog attack was held Saturday morning.
Sandra Lambert, had to have her right arm amputated after two pit bulls mauled her in July. Now she is learning to use her left hand and trying to get her life back on track.
BENEFIT FOR LAMBERT
A car wash benefit is a common sight on any given Saturday, but this car wash was for a woman who went through an especially traumatic attack. Sandra Lambert was mauled by two pit bulls in July.
She spent weeks in the hospital, had multiple surgeries and in the end, lost her right arm.
The money raised by the car wash will provide Lambert some financial relief, but just seeing the support from her family and friends helps her emotional recovery.
"I haven't felt too bad today," Lambert said. "I think it has made me feel good in my body and everywhere I haven' t felt pain or anything."
CHURCH MEMBERS VOLUNTEER
The labor was provided by members of Lambert's church, Springs of Life. They said Miss Sandra, deserves whatever help they can give
"She's just been a blessing for us so we wanted to do something to bless her," volunteer Dawn Williams said.
"We wanted to help miss Sandra because she is really loving and a bright and wonderful spirit at our church," volunteer Jodi Singleton told us.
RECOVERY TAKING TIME
Lambert is still undergoing painful physical therapy, but her husband Donald said she's tough and she'll continue to improve.
"She's strong, believes in the church, she'll pull through and get better everyday," Donald Lambert said.
And Saturday's support from family and friends certainly helped with that recovery.
"Thank you too much so much," Sandra Lambert told the crowd.
"We love you miss Sandra!" a bunch of folks yelled back.
PIT BULLS PUT DOWN
Lambert had been taking care of the pit bulls that attacked her. They were put down shortly afterwards.
