MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Shots rang out at home with six children inside on Page Avenue early in the morning Tuesday, October 22.
Family members of those living in this house told FOX10 Tuesday that they heard more than 15 shots fired near their residence.
Police say they're still investigating, and they're looking for the gunman.
"[Those are] my nieces and my nephews, those are my sister's kids. We just buried my nephew, and if anything happened to them, we won't know what to do,” said Carolyn McPherson, a family member to those living at the home, “It's just messed up, how are you going to shoot up someone's house and their truck?"
McPherson says she and her family are scared for their lives after police found upwards of 15 shell casings at the home around 1:30 in the morning.
"The people that did this had no regard for the residents in that neighborhood,” said Ashley Rains with Mobile Police, “they shot bullets in the direction of a vehicle and a home. That's inherently dangerous."
Police say a car that was parked in this driveway was hit by passing bullets.
They say right now the only charge that the suspect would face is shooting into an unoccupied vehicle, but family members tell FOX10 that the bullets not only hit the car, but also grazed the side of the house.
FOX10 asked police if this damage would call for additional charges, and police say the investigation is still ongoing.
Family members say they have a hunch as to who the gunman could be after a domestic dispute a couple days before, but police will not confirm that person's identity.
If you have any information about this crime, or the whereabouts of the suspect, call mobile police at 251-208-1700.
