MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - An elderly man remains hospitalized in critical condition after Mobile Police said he was assaulted early Saturday morning, October 19.
MPD believes the 64-year-old was badly beaten before being found by his friend in a driveway of a residence in the 2300 block of McVay Drive.
The friend said he found the victim alert and responsive, but with obvious injuries. Police said the victim had multiple facial fractures.
The man was found early the morning of Saturday, October 19, but police said they weren't called until late that afternoon.
“There are a number of things here that don’t really make a lot of sense, and I guess that’s some of the things we’re trying to figure out now," said MPD spokesman Sgt Chris Levy. "Were his injuries obvious at the time, were they not obvious at the time, but what we do know now is that we haven’t been able to speak with him because he has been unconscious since we’ve come in contact with him.”
Detectives have determined the assault did not occur at the residence the victim was found. If you have any information, contact Mobile Police.
