MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - City leaders and concerned citizens met Tuesday, October 8 at Riverside Baptist Church to discuss the future of the Dauphin Island Parkway.
A South DIP Peninsula Plan was unveiled by three area community action groups and two additional neighborhood groups who are looking to revitalize a five mile stretch of neighborhoods and businesses.
Mayor-elect Sandy Stimpson, District 3 Councilman C.J Small, and District Three County Commissioner Jerry Carl attended the event to listen to concerns and proposals.
Guest speakers included organizer Debi Foster and Josephine Piscioneri.
Organizer said the area has much potential and many untapped natural resources for visitors.
Mayor-elect Stimpson and Councilman Small said they have plans to revive the community, especially with Airbus setting up shop nearby.
