MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The 19th annual BayFest Music Festival kicked off Friday night, October 4 in the streets of downtown Mobile. Numerous acts are scheduled to play this weekend including Zac Brown Band, Gary Alan, Three Days Grace, Daughtry, R Kelly, T.I., and Little Big Town just to name a few.
The threat of Tropical Storm Karen has been on everyone's mind the past few days, but that did not stop some diehard BayFest fans from coming out and enjoying some great music in Mobile.
Folks from all over the Southeast came to see what Bayfest 2013 has to offer.
"I'm from New Orleans."
"From Excel Alabama."
"We are from Knoxville, Tennesee."
"Anthony Hamilton, Tamia, R Kelly."
"I'm here to see everybody."
"Whoooo! We love Hunter!"
With the threat of wind and rain from Tropical Storm Karen in the Gulf, many were still eager to see their favorite artists perform this weekend.
"We already spent our money so we decided to come on out," said one festival goer.
"Ain't nobody scared of no water. Baby, we're from the coast,” said another.
"We drove through the storm and the rain. We had some sunshine and a little bit of rain. But guess what, all we see through the clouds now is sunshine and we're at the fest!" another excited music lover said.
The threat of a tropical storm didn’t keep this festival goer away, "No, I'm dedicated. All the way. Bayfest 2013. I'm here.”
Because of Karen in the Gulf, BayFest organizers have contingency plans in place for this weekend that involves some cancellations. All performances on the Coke, AT&T/Southern Ford Dealers, and Miller Light/Wind Creek Casino stages will go on as planned. The only acts cancelled are on the Gospel Stage, Launching Pad, Jazz and Cafe Stages as well. Those cancelled acts will not be rescheduled. If you bought a ticket, unfortunately no refunds will be given.
