We are seeing a significant warm trend this week, but it is about to end. Daytime highs were almost 15 degrees above average again today. Temperatures this afternoon were near 80 in many locations. The record at Mobile Regional for Dec. 6th is 81 degrees in 1998. We have peaked at 80 degrees so far today, and the high temperature at 79 for Pensacola which is a tied record for the second day in a row.
We remain on the warm side of a major front through this evening. Ice storm conditions continue for Dallas, Little Rock, Memphis, and the Ohio Valley tonight. Dallas and Fort Worth saw significant freezing rain, mainly last night.
A few spotty rain showers are possible this afternoon. A better opportunity for rain comes in tonight, along the surface cold front. Temps turn much cooler with lower rain chances for Saturday and Sunday. Highs will struggle to hit 50 degrees on Saturday. We do expect more colder weather next week on Tuesday and Wednesday.
