A follow up to those four “would-be” car theft suspects -- who got stuck with that stick shift and ended up ditching the car because they didn’t know how to drive it.

It was the surveillance video that you won’t soon forget. Four suspects tying to steal a car Monday evening from Dearmon’s Quick Stop.

While the keys were left inside the car -- none of them knew how to drive a stick shift. The victim confronted them as they attempted to drive off -- even trying to pull the driver out of his 1995 Honda Civic.

Returning inside to get his cell phone -- the victim begins recording as two of the suspects run away on foot and the other two driving off in a black SUV.

So who tries to steal a car they can’t drive??? -- Perhaps a suspected robber who can’t get the job done.

Mobile County Sheriff’s detectives say the suspect who was in the driver seat of that Civic -- and a guy who tried to rob a Semmes convenience store earlier that same day are one in the same. They say 32-year-old Blake Lawrence had a failed robbery attempt -- after the cashier didn’t take him or his homemade weapon seriously -- he bought a six pack of beer before leaving.

Investigators say they’re making more room in Metro Jail as they’ve signed warrants for two of his alleged partners in crime.
