Vandals Street Kitchen Participating in Vegan Chef Challenge

Vandals Street Kitchen stops by Studio 10 to make their East of the Border Bowl and tell us about the Vegan Chef Challenge.

This October the 2nd annual Vegan Chef Challenge in Mobile has been in full swing! All this month our lineup of chefs have been competing for your votes with creative and delicious new plant-based menu options. For the last several years veganism is on the rise, and with our vegan challenge you’re invited to see why!

With this the final weekend for the contest ahead, the event has already been a big hit locally! In Mobile we’ve have around 100 local diners have joined, with close to 200 of our chef’s new vegan dishes now voted on in the contest. Feedback from chefs like Douglas Kerr from Dragonfly Foodbar in Fairhope are reporting their vegan specials have been regularly selling out on a daily basis. So don’t miss out on this great opportunity to try our locations while these special menus are here!

Diners this weekend going out to eat are encouraged to try any of our competing locations. In Mobile participating restaurants to pick from are Vandals Street Kitchen, Rice Asian Grill and Sushi Bar, The Noble South, Ashakras & Ashtro Juice Bar Cafe, Sunflower Cafe, Front Yard Tacos, Iron Hand Brewing, The Haberdasher, Ginger and Spice, The Hummingbird Way Oyster Bar, Lindsey Bakes - Vegan Treats at Dropout Donuts. Or for those heading to the Eastern Shore there’s Warehouse Bakery and Donuts, Section Street Pizza, Dragonfly Foodbar, Dragonfly Tavern and Sunflower Cafe Fairhope with new yummy vegan fare to try out!

After October 31st we will begin gathering all voters’ input, and winning chefs and dishes will then be announced in early November. This could be exciting for today’s guest especially, as for the last two weeks Vandals Street Kitchen has been running close to the front of the pack!
