Doing Good: Shorty’s Safe Haven Equine Rescue & Rehab

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Shorty’s Safe Haven Equine Rescue & Rehab is a non-profit farm located in Foley. They focus on bringing together foster kids and at-risk youth together, with rescue horses, for Equine Assisted Therapy.

They currently house 27 horses and other animals, that all assist in helping the children in their program. Their mission is to provide a safe place of hope and healing for the community. Their services are at NO COST to the program families. They provide counseling services, and all riding gear the children need to be on the farm, such as boots, jeans, riding helmets, etc.

Shorty’s is calling on help, however. Unfortunately, the land that they currently lease has been sold, and they have until June 1st to find a new location. If you would like to donate, you can do so on their GoFundMe.

You have the opportunity to check out Shorty’s Safe Haven for yourself during their Spring Festival on Saturday, March 23rd from 10 AM to 4 PM. Admission will be free, with 2 easter egg hunts, local vendors, Easter Bunny pictures, pony rides, a silent auction, bounce houses, hay rides, and food trucks.
