Pensacola police make arrest in early morning homicide on 11th and Baars streets

Another man was also wounded in the Friday morning shooting.

PENSACOLA, Ala. (WALA) - The Pensacola Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting Friday morning in the area of 11th and Baars streets.

Police said 45-year-old Nathaniel Thomas has been charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and firing a missile into an occupied vehicle. The motive of the shooting is still under investigation.

According to Pensacola Police, officers responded around 2:44 a.m. to reports of a shooting in the area. When officers arrived, they found one victim, later identified as 42-year-old Kewhan Landrum of Pensacola, who had sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital where he died from his wounds.

In addition, a 28-year-old Pensacola man was hit by gunfire. Tyreka Waring was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds and is in stable condition, police said.

Detectives continue to investigative the motive of the shooting.
