NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The streets of New Orleans are filling up fast as Super Bowl LIX weekend kicks into high gear. Fans from across the country are arriving, eager to soak up the city’s culture, food, and football atmosphere, even if they don’t have a ticket to Sunday’s game.

“I’m just gonna visit the sites and sounds of the city and head to the Super Bowl and watch the Chiefs win,” one fan said, echoing the enthusiasm of thousands flooding the French Quarter and Superdome area ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles showdown.

NFL legends, Hollywood stars, and sports icons have also made their way into the city.

On St. Louis Street, an exclusive event at Antoine’s drew Peyton Manning, Russell Wilson and Ciara, NBA stars Jalen Rose and Andre Iguodala, hip hop superstar Travis Scott and comedian Keegan-Michael Key.

Eli Manning and Joe Burrow were also spotted making their rounds in the city.

Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker hosted the Run Travis Run 5K at Audubon Park, capped by a performance of Baltimore hardcore band End It.

The French Quarter is glowing with a sea of red and green as Chiefs and Eagles fans pack the city’s iconic streets and bars. At Tropical Isle, fans raised their signature Hand Grenades, celebrating the pre-Super Bowl atmosphere.

Many have praised the hospitality they’ve experienced, from the airport to hotels to local restaurants.

Road closures are in place throughout the French Quarter and Downtown through the weekend, meaning anyone planning to visit should prepare for detours and extra security screenings.

With President Donald Trump expected to attend the Super Bowl, security measures are at an all-time high. Increased police patrols, barricades, and checkpoints are visible in key areas, including Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, and the Superdome perimeter. Officials are reminding visitors to report suspicious activity and to expect longer wait times at major event venues.

While the city welcomes thousands of visitors, Saints fans are also reflecting on a historic moment—the anniversary of New Orleans’ victory in Super Bowl XLIV. Drew Brees, who led the Saints to their first and only Super Bowl title in 2010, looked back at the game that cemented the team’s place in NFL history.
