MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Three more federal leases along the Alabama Gulf Coast are on the DOGE chopping block.
The so-called Department of Government Efficiency lists 748 lease terminations on its website, totaling $660 million in savings. FOX10 News previously reported DOGE had terminated leases for offices of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Now add to that list two offices in Mobile offices and one in Daphne:
- A 5548-square-foot office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration on Montlimar Drive in Mobile. The agency enforces labor standards. The government has been paying $99,708 a year in rent. DOGE claims $493,540 in savings by canceling it.
- A 2,200-square-foot office on Government Street in Mobile for the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division office. The government has been paying $62,676 a year in rent. DOGE claims $104,460 in savings from canceling it.
- A 7,087-square-foot office on Main Street in Daphne for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. The government has been paying $149,655 in rent. DOGE claims a total savings of $311,781 by canceling it.
Those annual leases total more than $311,000 a year, for total savings of more than $909,000.
