COLLEGE STATION, TX. (WSFA) - Coming off a 24-17 loss to Oklahoma in their SEC opener, Auburn traveled to Texas A&M Saturday looking to avoid back-to-back losses.

The Tigers defeated the Aggies 43-41 in four overtimes last season, but could not recreate that same magic Saturday.

A nail-biting 4th quarter ended with Texas A&M maintaining a single-score lead to defeat the Tigers 16-10.

First Half

Auburn struggled to gain significant yardage early on, being stopped in just 3 plays on their opening drive.

A much more aggressive Texas A&M offense scored after a 24-yard pass and 38-yard rush straight into Auburn’s red zone. Le’Veon Moss then carried it in for Texas A&M’s opening 7-0 lead.

The Aggies carried their lead into the second quarter where Auburn got onto the board with a 32-yard field goal by Alex McPherson.

Texas A&M answered with a field goal of their own, extending their lead 10-3.

One drive later, the Aggies opted for another field goal, inching further ahead 13-3.

Second Half

A 2-yard touchdown run by Jackson Arnold put the Tigers within striking distance of the Aggies in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter.

Despite another filed goal putting Texas A&M up by 6 points (16-10), the Tigers were left with a last-minute opportunity to turn it around.

However, Auburn’s offense, which had struggled from the onset, failed to get back into the Aggies’ territory. Arnold was sacked for a loss of 6 yards, ending their final push.

The Aggies dominated Auburn’s offense, gaining 414 total yards while only allowing the Tigers 155.

Arnold, who was sacked a record 9 times in last week’s matchup against Oklahoma, faced similar pressure from Texas A&M, being sacked 7 times by the Aggies’ defensive line.

Arnold also struggled to connect with his receivers, throwing 16 incomplete passes across all four quarters.

The Tigers are now 0-2 against ranked opponents. They’ll take a bye-week before returning to Jordan-Hare to host No. 5 Georgia on Oct. 11.
