MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Rebuilding Together of South Alabama is happy to announce that we are transitioning into constructing Accessory Dwelling Units(ADUs) to support our homeowners that are in need of safe, healthy, and accessible housing.

Through an AARP Community Challenge Grant, RTSOAL, Kingdom Renovation Foundation, and Kingdom Training Center will facilitate a housing design competition in Mobile and Clarke counties. The pilot competition will work with Project Inspire in Mobile County and the Jobs for America’s Graduates(JAG) in Clarke County.

The program’s goal is to introduce students to the skills needed to construct a home. Additionally, the program allows industry partners to work alongside the students, sharing knowledge and exposing them to local career opportunities.

The end result is the construction of 4 ADUs that will be shared with homeowners that are in need of safe, accessible, and energy efficient homes.

To support the Housing Design Competition, Rebuilding Together of South Alabama is hosting “Big Swings, Bigger Impact” a TopGolf Tournament on Monday, October 13th from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. to raise funds and awareness of our mission that supports safe and healthy housing for veterans, senior citizens, those living with disabilities, and single-parent households.

All proceeds benefit our Home Building Competition and Handyman Services offered free of charge to homeowners in South Alabama.
