AUBURN, Ala. (WALA) - Auburn football just added one of the most electric quarterbacks in college football.

Byrum Brown, a record-setting dual-threat QB, has officially signed with the Tigers, head coach Alex Golesh announced Tuesday, and the numbers jump off the page.

Brown led all FBS quarterbacks in 2025 with 42 total touchdowns, averaging more than 347 yards of offense per game. The 6-foot-3, 232-pound senior from Raleigh, North Carolina, thrived both through the air and on the ground in Golesh’s up-tempo offense.

“Byrum is a true leader and competitor,” Golesh said. “He’s process-driven in everything he does. What makes him special is how he elevates everyone around him. He demands greatness from himself and his teammates.”

On the stat sheet, Brown was nearly unstoppable. He completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,158 yards, tossing 28 touchdowns against just seven interceptions. When defenses focused on stopping the pass, Brown made them pay with his legs, rushing for 1,008 yards and 14 touchdowns, including six games with 100-plus rushing yards.

Over four seasons at USF, Brown piled up 7,690 passing yards and 61 passing touchdowns, while adding 2,265 rushing yards and 31 scores on the ground.

His 2025 season placed him in rare company nationally. Brown became the only FBS or NFL player in the last 30 seasons to record 200+ passing yards, 80+ rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown in five straight games. He was also just the 12th player in NCAA history to throw for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,000 in the same season.

That production earned plenty of national attention. Brown was named a Davey O’Brien Award semifinalist and appeared on watch lists for the Maxwell, Walter Camp, Manning, and Davey O’Brien Awards. He also collected multiple conference and national weekly honors throughout the season.

While injuries limited him to five games in 2024, Brown’s 2023 campaign was historic at USF. He became the program’s first 3,000-yard passer, setting multiple school records and finishing as one of just two players nationwide. alongside LSU’s Jayden Daniels, with 3,000 passing yards and 800 rushing yards that year.

Off the field, Brown matched his on-field excellence. He maintained a 3.77 GPA as a Health Sciences major, earned multiple Athletics Honor Roll nods, and was named a 2025 Military Bowl STEM Scholar-Athlete. He graduated from USF in December 2025.

Now, Auburn fans will get their first look at what Golesh calls a quarterback who “elevates everyone around him” and brings a proven, explosive skill set to the Plains.
