MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - South Alabama rallied past Alabama Tuesday night — winning six-to-three at Stanky Field.

Alabama struck first. The Crimson Tide pushed across a run in the second inning on a ground ball, then added another in the third on an R-B-I single.

South Alabama answered in the fifth. Ethan Melton reached on an Alabama error, scoring Stewart Puckett, who had walked earlier in the inning.

Alabama extended its lead to three in the seventh on a wild pitch. But South Alabama answered in a big way.

Stewart Puckett singled to right to score Ethan Melton and Rett Johnson. First baseman Blake Guerin then lined a single up the middle to bring home two more — giving the Jaguars a five-to-three lead.

South Alabama added an insurance run in the eighth. Ethan Melton singled home Brady Picarelli, who had entered as a pinch runner.

Reliever Zach Stevens took it from there — tossing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts to earn the win.

South Alabama’s first win over Alabama since 2024 improves the all-time series at Stanky Field to 31-and-23 in favor of the Jaguars.
