ACCS: Coastal Alabama Community College Nursing Program
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Coastal Alabama Community College’s nursing programs are setting the standard for excellence! The College’s nursing programs continue to expand, providing high-quality education across six campuses.
We met with Dr. Tiffany Scarborough, the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health, and also nursing student Cale Jones.
Students can pursue pathways leading to the registered nursing license or the practical nursing license. With admissions open every semester and consistently strong pass rates on licensure exams, the programs are preparing the next generation of skilled nurses to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region.
Coastal Alabama Community College launched the nation’s first Practical Nursing apprenticeship, and has since expanded to include both Practical Nursing and Registered Nursing apprenticeships. Today, more than 65 students are enrolled in these apprenticeship programs, gaining valuable hands-on experience while completing their clinical requirements.
These apprenticeship programs are designed to remove financial barriers for students. Participants earn a wage while completing clinical hours and work directly with clinical partner organizations. This innovative approach ensures students gain real-world experience while contributing meaningfully to healthcare delivery in the community.
Through its comprehensive and accessible programs, the College continues to define excellence for nursing education, combining academic achievement, workforce readiness, and innovative solutions that support both students and healthcare partners.
