NALC Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - This coming Saturday, residents across Mobile have a simple way to make a big impact in the fight against hunger.

The National Association of Letter Carriers will host its annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, benefiting Feeding the Gulf Coast.

Taking place May 9, the event invites the community to join local letter carriers in helping supply critical food resources to Feeding the Gulf Coast for families facing hunger. This is especially important leading up to the summer months when families face an increase in food budgets due to the summer break.

Since its launch in 1993, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, providing important support to communities across the country, and that impact is felt locally as well.

Here’s how it works: on May 9, letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations along their regular routes.

Residents can participate by simply placing a bag of non-perishable food items by their mailbox before mail delivery. From there, letter carriers will handle the rest, ensuring donations reach Feeding the Gulf Coast.

Organizers say even a small donation can help make a meaningful difference for neighbors facing hunger across the Gulf Coast.
