Pelicans in Paris: New Orleans to face the Spurs in France, England this season
Zion Williamson and co. could face off against Victor Wembanyama in his home country
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Pelicans and Spurs will face each other for a pair of games abroad this upcoming season.
The NBA announced on Wednesday (May 20) that the Southwest Division rivals will face each other at Accor Arena in Paris, France, on Jan. 14, 2027, and at Co-op Live in Manchester, England, on Jan. 17, 2027, as part of the league’s multiyear slate of regular-season games in Europe.
“It is a tremendous honor for the Pelicans to represent the City of New Orleans on a global stage while sharing our culture and the spirit of Louisiana with fans around the world,” said Pelicans Governor Gayle Benson. “Together with the Saints playing in Paris next season, the opportunity for the Pelicans to play internationally in Paris and Manchester represents another significant step in strengthening our organization’s cultural and economic ties in these regions.”
The NBA says that the game in Paris will be the 16th game featuring an NBA team in France since 1991, and the league’s sixth regular-season game in Paris. The Manchester game will be the 20th game featuring an NBA team in England since 1993, and it’ll be the first regular-season game to ever be played in Manchester.
In January 2025, the Spurs face the Pacers twice in Paris. The expected 2027 game would be a second homecoming for San Antonio star Victor Wembanyama in his home country.
The 2027 games will be the first time the Pelicans will play games in Europe in franchise history, and the third and fourth games ever in Europe.
Last preseason, the Pelicans traveled to Australia for two games in the NBLxNBA series.

22-year-old MVP candidate Wembanyama will likely be a significant draw for fans in France for the Spurs, while New Orleans’s French connections may be of interest overseas as well.
On the NFL side of the business, the Saints will also play in Paris and are set for a historic matchup with the Steelers this fall.
