Auburn baseball Earns No. 4 National Seed, Hosting NCAA Regional at Plainsman Park
Tigers to host UCF, NC State, and Milwaukee

AUBURN, Ala. (WALA) - The road to Omaha will run through the Plains this weekend.
Auburn earned the No. 4 national seed in the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament on Monday and will host the Auburn Regional at Plainsman Park.
The Tigers are joined in the regional by UCF, NC Stat, and Milwaukee.
Auburn is the only program in college baseball to earn a top-four national seed in both the 2025 and 2026 NCAA tournaments. The No. 4 seed matches the highest postseason seeding in program history, tying the 2003 and 2025 teams.
“It’s been a pretty good level of consistency,” Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said. “There are some more doors we can knock down. Hopefully there’s still some hunger, appreciation and thankfulness, understanding that this is pretty neat in our program’s history.”
The Tigers enter postseason play with a 38-19 overall record after navigating one of the toughest schedules in the country. Auburn finished 17-13 in SEC play while posting the nation’s No. 3 RPI and the No. 1 strength of schedule.
The regional appearance marks Auburn’s 26th all-time NCAA Regional and the seventh under Thompson in the last nine postseasons. The Tigers are 54-35 all-time in regional play and 14-4 under Thompson.
Auburn opens tournament play Friday against Milwaukee at 12 p.m. CT on ESPN+. The second game of the regional features UCF and NC State at 5 p.m.
“It’s going to be three really good teams,” Thompson said. “Everybody’s either hot, Power Four, done it before, been there before, and we’ve got to play some good baseball.”
The Auburn Regional is paired with the Lincoln Regional, hosted by No. 13 national seed Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball. That regional also includes Ole Miss Rebels baseball, Arizona State Sun Devils baseball and South Dakota State Jackrabbits baseball. The winners of each regional will meet in next week’s Super Regional round.
“It’s awesome being able to be in front of these Auburn fans,” Auburn pitcher Andreas Alvarez said. “Being able to compete in front of our people, it’s going to be awesome.”
“The Auburn family always shows up,” Auburn third baseman Eric Guevara added.
