AUBURN, Ala. (WSFA) - Auburn University is mourning the loss of a Tigers legend.

Paul Ellen, whom the university said was a “trusted voice of the Auburn radio broadcast team” for more than five decades, has died. He was 75.

According to the university’s biography of Ellen, he started his broadcast career inside Haley Center, on Auburn’s campus, and was among the group who “literally built WEGL nearly 50 years ago.”

Ellen called Auburn baseball games and, for two years, called football games as well, before coming back to the broadcast booth in 1990.

He hosted the Auburn Football broadcasts for more than three decades.

No other details on Ellen’s death or funeral arrangements were immediately available.
