Kamara, Olave absent from Saints outdoor practices
Moore says Olave still recovering from blood clot that sidelined him late last season
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - After a couple of weeks of practicing inside, Saints head coach Kellen Moore held Wednesday’s OTA workout outside.
When the team took the field, a couple of notable players were absent: Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave.
Kamara has only attended one of these voluntary workouts. That was last Wednesday, and he has not been back since.
Moore said Olave is still recovering from the blood clot that sidelined him late last season.
Despite not having two key playmakers there Wednesday, Moore is still working to build his offense and grow on the success they had down the stretch last year.
“I think really the focus now is building a system around these guys and feel like we got a great group of guys. We got really versatile players who can do a number of things and so I think that’s going to be a benefit to us,” Moore said. “Now is really the focus is we’re finishing up kind of this core installation of core concepts and core systems that we believe in and then it’s about taking that through the summer and into training camp and we’re not going back to step one. We just got to keep building and that’s a really important aspect of this.”
Sean Fazende and Andre Johnson Jr. will break down what they saw at week three of OTAs on the latest Overtime podcast, including some comments from Moore about the futures of Alvin Kamara and Cameron Jordan. The podcast is available on YouTube, the station’s website and replaying on the Gulf Coast Sports and Entertainment Network.
