Reid State nurse pinning ceremony honors new class

EVERGREEN, Ala. (WALA) - Reid State Community College celebrated a new class of nurses with a traditional pinning and candle-lighting ceremony.

Thirty-six students from the college’s practical nursing program participated in the event in Evergreen.

The pinning ceremony is a longtime rite of passage dating back to Florence Nightingale, marking the transition from the classroom to professional practice.

Students held lit candles while reciting the practical nursing pledge, symbolizing the light of knowledge and their promise to care for future patients.
