Atmore Police: shots fired, person struck by vehicle at large gathering

ATMORE, Ala. (WALA) - Atmore Police posted on its Facebook page Sunday morning answering a call of shots fired and a person struck by a vehicle.

EARLY MORNING SHOOTING INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

The Atmore Police Department responded a call reporting numerous shots fired and a person struck by a vehicle on Carver Avenue near King Street and Sims Street.

There had been a large gathering/party, with an estimated crowd of more than 500 people at the location. It was reported by officers to be a large number of people in the area and gathered roadside.

The Atmore Police Department is currently investigating the shooting of an adult male. The victim was transported for medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition at this time. His identity will not be released at this time.

Numerous Atmore Police Department personnel including officers from Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Narcotics/Vice, and Crime Scene responded to the incident.

This remains an active investigation. Additional information will be released when it becomes available.
