MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Each fall, millions of Americans 65 or older make a decision that could affect their health and finances for the entire next year, often without all the information they need. Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period is the time each year to make sure coverage still fits your health and financial needs. Premiums, deductibles and prescriptions can change, so taking time now helps avoid costly surprises later.

Beyond Medicare Advantage, options include Original Medicare paired with a stand-alone Part D drug plan, or Medicare Supplement coverage, each with different costs, networks and rules. Original Medicare, for example, generally doesn’t cover routine dental care or dentures, routine eye exams, or hearing aids, and has no out-of-pocket maximums. Seniors also need to watch for scam calls targeting them, some now using AI-generated voices to sound like trusted sources, making it more important than ever to verify information through official channels.
