(WALA) - Unsettled weather is ahead for the Gulf Coast with rain potential over the Halloween weekend and again midweek. While Friday should stay fairly dry with increasing clouds, scattered showers are expected Saturday and Sunday with rain chances jumping to 60% Saturday night. Another significant rain chance develops Wednesday with a front moving through that could bring thunderstorms. Temperatures will remain mild through next week in the upper 70s, with dry conditions expected Monday, Tuesday and Election Day.

Friday: Dry With Increasing Clouds

Friday should stay fairly dry, though clouds will increase ahead of the next system. Temperatures will get up into the low 80s during the daytime, remaining mild for late October. Friday night will also be mild as the system approaches.

This will be the last dry day before rain chances increase over the weekend.

Saturday: Scattered Showers Possible

A chance of scattered showers will develop during the day on Saturday with rain chances at 40% by Saturday afternoon. This rain chance will stay in place through any trick-or-treating happening Saturday evening on Halloween evening.

Temperatures will be a little warmer than normal for this time of year, reaching the low 70s. Have a backup indoor plan in case rain arrives during trick-or-treating hours.

Saturday Night and Sunday: Higher Rain Chances

Rain chances jump to 60% Saturday night, and it looks like a real good chance of rain on Sunday. If you have anything planned outdoors on Sunday, know that an indoor Plan B would be wise.

Generally around an inch of rain is forecast for the area on Sunday, mainly in the form of showers. This is enough to create wet conditions and potentially disrupt outdoor plans.

Monday and Tuesday: Dry and Quiet

Things get quiet and drier on Monday and Tuesday. These will be good days for outdoor activities as the system moves away from the region.

Temperatures will continue to hold in the upper 70s, remaining mild and comfortable.

Election Day: Dry Conditions

Election Day looks like it should be dry, providing good conditions for voters heading to the polls. This will be a good opportunity for outdoor activities if needed.

Wednesday: Another Rain Chance With Thunderstorms Possible

Another real good opportunity for rain develops after Election Day. Rain chances jump to 70% by Wednesday of next week as a front comes through.

Thunderstorms will be possible on Wednesday, but it’s too early to tell whether we’ll see any severe threats with this system. Stay tuned for updates as the system approaches.

Next Week: Mild Temperatures Continue

Temperatures continue to hold in the upper 70s next week, remaining mild and comfortable. The pattern will gradually transition as we move through the week, with the main weather story being the rain chances Wednesday.

Seven-Day Outlook: Unsettled Pattern With Multiple Rain Chances

The forecast through next week features two main rain events: scattered showers over Halloween weekend and a frontal system Wednesday that could bring thunderstorms. Between these systems, Monday and Tuesday will be dry and pleasant, and Election Day should remain mainly dry.

Temperatures will stay mild in the upper 70s throughout the period.
