Her car was found less than two weeks ago.

It was submerged in Bayou Sara and there was a body inside.

Police say they believe the body is that of Vian, and the preliminary investigation indicates that Vian was alive when her car went into the water.

Police also say that the condition as to how Vian's car was found in Bayou Sara is consistent with that of an accident.

Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste said, "Everything that we have found to this point indicates, or at least appears to us, to be an accidental incident. We wanted to at least let the public know that we're not looking for someone this is going around abducting women."

Again, the cause of Vian's death is undetermined.

Police say the toxicology report still needs to be completed and the investigation into her death will remain ongoing.

They also say it's hard to say right now when all the questions will be answered.

FOX10 has learned from high-ranking city officials that information in the case of the discovery of a body inside a missing woman's submerged car is consistent with the incident being the result of an accident rather than foul play.

The Mobile Police Department is expected to release information today to disclose the latest developments in the case of missing Mobile woman Danniella Vian.

Vian went missing in July 2018. Her car was removed from Bayou Sara on May 3. The remains of an adult female were inside the vehicle.

The cause of death has not officially been determined. Toxicology reports are not in, officials tell FOX10 News.

MPD released the following information:

"Based on autopsy results, Danniella Vian’s cause of death is undetermined. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the condition as to how Vian’s car was found in Bayou Sara is consistent with that of an accident. The investigation into her death will remain ongoing."

Vian's family released the following statement:

Bill and I have been notified that the homicide unit at this point is leaning towards an accident. We are heart broken and devastated about these findings. Danniellas father and I still have hope in the homicide division due to the fact that they have not closed the case and its still ongoing. There is yet to be a positive ID of our daughter Danniella Vian. Please continue to keep our daughter Danniella in your prayers.

Thank you,

Joy and Bill Vian
