Baldwin County Public Schools showered some of its best teachers with appreciation at the district's annual Teacher of the Year Banquet.

The two county-wide winners were Jennifer Cardwell, a sixth grade science and social studies teacher at Orange Beach Elementary School and Kathy Hughes, choir teacher at Spanish Fort High School.

"I'm humbled by it because there were so many wonderful teachers," Hughes said. "It's all about loving your kids and giving them the best chance possible."

"I was very surprised and very appreciative," Cardwell said. "I love what I teach and I want to transfer that to the students."

Hughes and Cardwell stopped by our studio during Fox 10 News at 4 to talk about the recognition.
