MOBILE, Ala. -- Mobile BayBears General Manager Chris Morgan told FOX10 News he will step down as BayBears GM effective Friday.
The departure comes prior to the BayBears' final season in Mobile.
The BayBears' new management group took control Oct. 1.
Morgan says he felt this was the right time to make this decision to allow all parties time to plan for a successful 2019 season.
The team is relocating to Madison in north Alabama for the 2020 season.
Morgan released the following statement regarding his departure:
"After careful consideration, I have made the decision to step away from the Mobile BayBears to pursue other opportunities.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my 4 years as General Manager of the BayBears and want to thank Mike Savit and HWS Baseball for providing me with the opportunity to oversee the organization back in 2014.
I also want to thank our fans, sponsors, media partners, and city officials for their support. Most importantly, much appreciation goes to the members of our front office staff who have always put forth tremendous effort and maintained a positive mindset each and every day, despite unique and occasionally difficult circumstances.
I wish them and everyone associated with the BayBears organization nothing but the best in 2019 and encourage the public to show their support during the team's final season."
